The Sudoku Championship 2010 in Shaw Parade was organized by the Sudoku Society and was sponsored by Purple Cane, Midea, Nestle, Mc Donalds, Shaw Parade, Eu Yang Sang, Malaysian Mensa and KAO with prizes worth almost RM20,000 for the taking.
The event received a warm reception from Sudoku enthusiasts with some coming from as far as Malacca to participate in the event.
There were also Sudoku players as young as 13 years old and golden citizens of the age of 65 participating in the event.
The event took place in Shaw Parade and had more than 160 participants playing Sudoku some just for the fun of it, others with the intent to win some of the exciting prizes that was in display on the stage that day.
Kicking off at 9AM, the event had around nine batches of preliminary rounds from which fifty best participants by time would be selected to play in the round of 50.
From then onwards, the ten best players by time will be selected to compete in the finals and based on that, the top three placings will be given.
In the round of 50, players would stand to win hampers courtesy to a lucky draw. In addition to that, all 50 players were also given Mc Donald’s meal cards, bookstore gift pack and tour agency vouchers.
After the completion of the normal Sudoku a variant known as 1Sudoku variant would be played by the players. Those who feel that they are upto it were given the chance to participate in the variant round with the chance to win prizes worth upto RM5,000.
