The above competition was held live online on Saturday, 3rd March 2007. Did any of you get to see the puzzles given? I believe the participants from 22 countries were given 11 hrs 30 minutes to solve the 8 puzzles. The champion was from Poland, in just below 1 hr. The second was from India, and third and fourth from Poland in just a little over 1 hr.
The good news is that a young Malaysian, Lim Vee Loon, age 16 from Klang, an SPM student, was placed 26 out of 207 participants. Congratulations to Lim. I am sure we will hear more of him after he completes his SPM. Also another Malaysian, Azlan Hassan also participated, and was placed 173rd. Congratulations also to Azlan on his performance and his initiative and courage to participate in a tough competition. I believe we would also be hearing more of Azlan in the local circuit. The only Singaporean, Ms Alice Tan, was placed 148
